Description:

This is a 2013 Leszek Gajdzik Guitar. In his Double Top, unlike so many other loud modern instruments, Leszek Gajdzik manages to maintain the Spanish character of the sound. This is partly due to traditional Torres style fan bracing inside the guitar. There is no nasality or metallic aspect to the sound at all. Overtones are preserved, in contrast to more heavily braced instruments, and so the guitar is a pleasure to play.

Leszek Gajdzik was said to be the best of show at the Los Angeles guitar festival in 2008 for his innovations and powerful yet Spanish sound. This guitar was his last that he constructed in Vienna before his move back to Ostrzeszow in his homeland, Poland, where today he constructs guitars together with his son.

Leszek Gajdzik was a long time adjunct faculty member at the university of Vienna in accoustics and also a long time repairer of guitars. His designs are reflective of these experiences. His guitars are robust, designed to not crack or fail in ways he had seen other guitars fail from his years of guitar repair. And his instruments are powerful, as all forms of energy loss – neck vibration, bridge flex, etc. – are minimized. Add to these innovations a double top, which lightens and stiffens the top, and you have a responsive loud instrument that is excellent for ensemble play with other orchestral instruments.
